HISTORY
The macadamia nut tree originated in the rain forests of
Queensland,
Australia. In 1882 William Purvis brought the first madadamia nut trees
to Hawaii. Today much of the world's macadamias are grown here in
Hawaii.
It takes about seven years for the macadamia tree to bear fruit.
The
fruit must ripen on the tree and is generally gathered by hand during
most of the year except for July and August.
The fruit, the macadamia nut, is considered a delicacy around the
world and the demand for this delicious and exotic nut far exceeds the
supply.
